PREVALENCE OF COMPUTER VISION SYNDROME AMONG UNDERGRADUATE PHYSICAL THERAPY STUDENTS

BACKGROUND/ OBJECTIVE:
Computers and other digital screens have become an integral part of our life. In this era when everyone is using this technology in a daily basis for hours, this has actually leaded to various ocular problems. The aim of the study is to aware the population regarding computer vision syndrome (CVS) and its prevalence.
METHODS:
This is a cross-sectional study conducted at Ziauddin College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Karachi during June 2019 to September 2020. A total number of candidates were 340 of both gender were included in the study. The study was conducted using a questionnaire, and the data were then statistically analyzed on SPSS version 20, and the descriptive data were calculated as mean, median, mode and standard deviation (S.E) using graphs were needed.
RESULTS:
In a study the total numbers of participants were 340 (65.9% female and34.1% male). The mean age of the participants were 22 years ± 1.8 years. Most of the students use mobile phones (88.5%) for study purpose while (35.3%) use it for 4-7 hour. The ocular symptoms that students face were burning of eyes (40%), tearing (55%), eye redness (45.3%),(31.8%) students claim they experience double vision, blurred vision (42.9%) ,eye dryness (23.8%), while extra ocular symptoms that were noticed in the study ere headache (67.9%).
CONCLUSION:
This study shows that most of the students were found to have a computer vision syndrome.
